PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE INSTITUTE OF FAMILY EDUCATION
 From Whence We Came
Originally incorporated on August 1, 1984 in the City of Jacksonville, County of Duval, State of Florida, Pursuit of Excellence Inc., as it was then known, was formed as a private school for students in the primary and secondary grades of Kindergarten through the Senior High School year. To better identify its structure and purpose as an educational organization, on June 30, 1987, the corporation changed its name to Pursuit of Excellence Institute Inc.
The primary motivation for the creation of Pursuit of Excellence Institute was the evident need for educational programing that focused on the use of teaching methods customized to the students’ methods of learning. Knowing that not all people learn best through the same mediums of instruction, the programs were designed to provide for each student an individually adapted approach of academic presentation.
In September 1988, the institute changed its location with a move to the City of Easley, County of Pickens, State of South Carolina, maintaining its original structure and purpose. On May 21, 1990, Pursuit of Excellence Institute Inc. was dissolved in the State of Florida and officially reincorporated in the City of Gaffney, County of Cherokee, State of South Carolina, where it extended its services to include tutoring for publicly, privately, and home-schooled children.
Then, at the first of October 1992, Pursuit of Excellence Institute Inc. relocated to the State of Missouri where, on April 5, 1993, after its dissolution in the State of South Carolina, it was permanently reincorporated as a Not-for-Profit organization, within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It was identified as an educational institution under the title, Pursuit of Excellence Institute, with its initial Midwestern location in the City of Blue Springs, County of Jackson, State of Missouri.
For an additional year, the institute remained organized as a private K-12 school, in which the gospel of Jesus Christ, as defined by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was officially identified as the basis upon which all academic subjects were and would be taught, and from which all programs were and would be developed. In June of 1994 it continued its services, upon the same Christian basis, but not as an official private school, rather as a resource center for Home-Schooling families, with an open invitation to all others interested in participating in the institute’s academic, extra-curricular, and supplemental programs, activities, and services.
Eleven and a half years later, in January 2016, one final change to the institute’s name and purpose was decided upon. Consequential to the abundantly evident need for greater emphasis on the critical importance of the family unit, and on the family’s function and interaction, the organization was renamed Pursuit of Excellence Institute of Family Education. It entered a dormant, re-development phase, wherein courses, programs, activities, and services were constructed for the purpose of teaching, enabling, and assisting families to more deeply understand the true and eternal nature and importance of the family, and to unite more strongly, interact more effectively, and bond more everlastingly.
The process of re-structure was pursued and accomplished through extensive and in-depth study, observation, research, and prayer, with its foundational focus remaining firmly rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, as defined by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Additionally, both face-to-face and virtual access mediums were created, and public communications of its existence, purpose, and programming were determined.
By the end of the year 2025, with the re-development phase complete and all base factors in place, Pursuit of Excellence Institute of Family Education, centered in the City of Kansas City, County of Platte, State of Missouri, will be officially ready for reactivation, which will come to be at the first of the year of 2026.
Today, Pursuit of Excellence Institute of Family Education offers family focused and gospel-based courses, programs, activities, and services that answer to all the aspects, needs, and interests of family relationships, interactions, and functioning. Because education is an integral part of our lives ~ be we children, adolescents, or adults ~ academic educational resources also remain an important dynamic in the institute’s programing. For all who are interested ~ whether they engage in home-education, public or private schooling, or personal independent learning, whether they be on the primary, secondary, university, or non-school levels ~ academic, extra-curricular, and supplemental programs, activities, and services are also offered to all who desire to partake. Additionally, mental and emotional health services, instructional meetings and activities, and psycho-educational programs are and will be available. Furthermore, as additional needs and interests are revealed, courses, programs, activities, and services will be developed to meet them.

It is to be noted, that although the standards and principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have been adopted by this corporation, Pursuit of Excellence Institute of Family Education is neither owned, financially supported, nor operated by said church in any way or to any degree.
